Bidets

The bidet is a French invention dating back to the 18th century which became popular in the Victorian era when improved plumbing and bathrooms became more common.

Bidets are used to wash yourself after using the toilet. They are often used to clean other parts of the body, such as feet.

Bidets come in many designs to suit any bathroom. A bidet will have a mixer tap which spouts warm water into the basin. The basin can be plugged and filled if needed. Having a bidet in your bathroom can be more hygienic than using toilet paper. In fact, most people with bidets use both, wiping with toilet paper and then using the bidet.

Bidets are very useful in the bathrooms of the elderly or anyone with mobility problems.
